Meet The Inclusion Team


Inclusion and Intervention Manager- Helen Lenton

Helen is an experienced teacher, on our Senior Leadership Team, who  promotes, develops and leads inclusion in the school,  and ensures our children are supported well in their learning and well being.  She measures pupil’s progress and ensures that children’s needs are met both by our support team and resources.

Working Days - Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday

Friday at the Seacroft Manston Cluster as the Lead SENCo

  • Special Needs Co-ordinator (SENCO) - attending meetings, writing reports, co-ordinating support.
  • Lead Senior Designated teacher for Child Protection Issues
  • Manager for Inclusion Team and Teaching Assistants (over 15 staff)
  • Seeks extra funding to support children with a high level of need
  • Liaison teacher for Speech and Language Resource Facility
  • Teacher with responsibility for ‘Looked After’ children
  • A Leading SENCo / Inclusion Manager for the Cluster and Authority

Learning Mentor - Yvette Chapman

Yvette works to remove barriers to learning for children and is a key point of contact for parents.

Working Days - Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday

  • Runs the DEN - nurture provision
  • Individual support and group work for children (self esteem, social skills, friendship and health groups etc.)
  • Delivers reading support
  • Designated child protection person in school
  • Offers advice and support for parents
  • Liaise with outside agencies to arrange best support
  • Signpost parents to other agencies when required
  • Runs lunchtime clubs
  • Early Help Assessment trained
  • Arranges transition to high school
  • Liaise with outside agencies to arrange the most appropriate support and care for pupils when required


Attendance Mentor - Amy Taylor

Amy leads attendance for the whole school and is responsible for ensuring that high standards of attendance are achieved.

 Working Days - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday

  • Individual support and group work for children
  • Manages individual and whole school data for attendance
  • Home school liaison, including home visits
  • Designated child protection person in school
  • Lead person in school for PTA 
  • Early Help Assessment trained
  • Offers parent support

    Speech and Language Therapist - Sharon Hird

    Sharon’s primary role is to support the children in Grimes Dyke’s language resource facility.  She also supports other children with speech and language needs throughout the school.

     Working days - Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday

    • Individual and group work with children with speech and language needs
    • Advice and support for parents
    • Speech and Language Assessments


    Pupil Support Mentor - Vicki Metcalf

    This role is to work with and support children to ensure their potential is reached to give support around managing emotions to pupils and plan and deliver groups. 

    Full time post to include: 

    • Individual support for children and their families
    • Group work (self esteem, friendship groups, anti-bullying, anger management and social skill groups)
    • Advise and support parents regarding behaviour and parenting
    • Early Help Assessment trained
    • Liaise with outside agencies to arrange the most appropriate support and care for pupils when required.
    • Devise Individual Behaviour Plans for children
    • To facilitate lunchtime staff training and ‘happy, healthy & active’ lunchtimes
